An Announcement of Sorts

It just dawned on me (3 Coronas into the evening) that I have never introduced you to Danielle Wiley. Which, shame on me. She brainstormed a very kick ass company called Sway Group that just launched. Sway Group is basically a talent agency for bloggers and Danielle is pretty much like Ari Gould on Entourage, meaning she connects me with people who want to pay me to write and then negotiates a contract. Join me, if you will, in this little daydream I have of Danielle manning, like, five telephone lines, the old school ones with blinking lights, cursing like a sailor and threatening evil corporations into paying little ol' me big dollars to write bullshit. Except I don't think that's exactly what goes down. A girl can dream, though.

Danielle asked me (and a bunch of other bloggers I really admire) if I'd like her to represent me and I did not hesitate before responding with a resounding yes. So what does that really mean? Basically, it means I can forward all the weird inquiry emails I get from companies to Danielle and if an offer from a company seems reasonable, she negotiates the terms (fingers crossed that it's on an old-fashioned land line telephone and involves lots of desk-banging, threats and cursing) and I sign a contract.

Okay, so what does that mean for you? It means you may click over here from time to time and see a post sponsored by this company or that company. Will I ever allow a company to tell me what to write? FUCK NO. An insurance company might ask if I could write a post about a road trip and at the end mention the post was sponsored by said company. Stuff like that. These posts will be few and far between and I'm aware of the raised eyebrows they may cause. But fuck it. I'll never be less than super forthright with y'all and as you well know, it's how I pay the bills, yo. Because of you guys, I was able to move here to central Pennsylvania and write from home. Because of you guys an agent wanted to represent me. Because of you guys companies want to pay me money to write stuff.

I WILL NEVER GET OVER THAT. Making a living off this blog and the relationships that have sprung from it never ceases to amaze me. I can never, ever, ever, ever thank you enough for clicking here and reading my shit, but I can try. Thank you. Thank you so damn much for continuing to read my ramblings, for offering the best advice, for being my internet pals and giving it to me straight. I hope you stick with me for the long haul.

Also. Is it weird that I have a crush on my agent? She's smokin' hot and all smart and sassy and business lady-y and stuff. And she has a blog. You can check her out by clicking here.

Being a mom of 2, struggling to be able to work from home too, I can't say nothing but "go girl, do what it's necessary to be able to stay closer to your kids, and you'll never regret it". And of course I won't stop reading, and clicking, you already know that! Kisses on the top of their noses to your 2 lovely children, and a hug for you.

Here's the thing. If you weren't funny ..... and you are funny. And if you weren't honest......I suspect you keep some things back, and you should, but mostly I think you're an honest sorta person and that resonates in your writing.

Add two cute kids and a marriage that isn't always perfect --- what's not to like?

I thank YOU for making me giggle more often than not AND for sharing tidbits of your life.

You're a good writer, Monica. Believe that. There is a reason Sway Group recruited you; like you said, Danielle is a smart business woman. You're in that "admire" group of women. I hope you know that.

P.S. I hope you make enough to live very comfortably . If you made millions I would applaud both your effort and your talent. Sponsored, not sponsored. I'll read either way.

Good Luck, Monica.

I support whatever supports your writing. Own it girl! You are getting paid to write about your life from home! Where you want to be doing what you want to do. American Dream, No? Please just keep writing and dont change... :D

I'm so happy to hear the good news. Your writing is wonderful and it makes me laugh daily. With my kids heading into college years (although the oldest one is a douche at the moment as he insists he's "got it covered" which translates to "I'm going to eff around for a while and learn what it's like to be destitute now that I've got my sweet high school diploma")

anway - especially with the new move, you and your family are always a lovely break in my mad dashing, single mom working two jobs, insanity filled days.

Very Interesting, and a pleasure to check out Danielle's site, although my eyeballs are still crossing with those hypnotic moving circles in the background. Ha! ADD. It's fun to follow your career, Monica, especially since you don't seem to allow fear of change to stifle your sense of adventure and possibility. Kiss it to God and let the chips fall where they may. You are a natural writer and easy to read and burp and laugh out loud with. Aher! :)

I'm so jealous and she really is pretty hot. Love her hair. I think a blog agent is a fantastic idea and I hope you all make a zillion dollars. Congratulations! Also, late congrats on your move. It's so pretty in rural PA and I can't wait to see your pictures when it's fall and the leaves change.
